I can't the following to work:

+ emacs is already installed but can't invoke it. i.e. in terminal "emacs file.txt" - an error came up saying "no such command..."

+ I can't seem to set up a printer. When I first installed Mandrake, I had no printer so I selected "no printer" but now that I have a printer I want Linux to be able to print my program listings. I have tried the LinuxConfig with no luck. i.e. nothing happened after a message said "please wait, setting up DUBS (or something..)".

+ This is not important but I would like to change the theme of the X Windows but can't find the KDE ThemeChanger. Where can I find it and how do I change the theme? I have already downloaded some cool themes from kde.themes.org.

As you can tell, I am feeling  and stumped :o !!

Help would be *very* much appreciated.

James

well i can help with the kde question...but it depends..if its kde2, look at the docs on themes.org and they'll tell you....but previous versions of kde are much easier to install themes...just go the the theme selection menu and click "install new theme"

I don't know about the emacs thing, but have you tried using HardDrake to set up the printer? I think it'll go back through the process used during install to set up your printer.
The KDE2 that comes with 7.2 doesn't have the theme manager. I've read that 2.1 will, but I haven't checked that out. You can try Gnome which I'm using with 7.2. You can do some theme stuff with it too. :)

There is a print tool in Drakeconfig for setting up the printer. When all else had failed, I' would shut down the machine, disconnect the printer cable, reconnect the printer to the computer, turn on the printer, and finally reboot Linux. Then, I would open Drakeconfig's print tool, which always worked under these circumstances. Good luck to you.
