Heya all!

I was wondering where #linuxnewbie.org on the Efnet irc server went to. I really miss the channel. Alphageek, vvx, Dr. Suse and many others always helped me out.

The channel moved to another server, but where is it? When I login via www.linuxnewbie.org (http://www.linuxnewbie.org) site, the only one I see on irc is vvx, and heīs mainly idle.

On irc I was known as Dwarf / Alpha, maybe some of you still remember me http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

I hope someone can tell me on which server the channel now resists, and how the channel is called.

Thank you very much http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

I think you can go to http://www.linuxnewbie.org/chat for a java version of IRC, but there's almost never someone there...

there is one on undernet at #linuxnewbie right now its not as popular as it used to be, but I would like to change that and get people back on there on a regular basis.

Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

How come they switched servers in the first place?

I thought it was because the EFnet servers were too laggy. But I didnīt have problems with them.

I thought it was because people were getting rejected from logging in due to not having an IDENT response....who knows ;/

yeh the move was because of a few pro windows irc haxors taking over the channels, people not being able to get in, not having admin control to protect the channel and kick people when needed..........

SOOOOOOOOO

I moved it to irc.openprojects.net

#lno and #linuxnewbie.org

#linuxnewbie was taken by the Linuxnewbie.COM people on that same server. Some of the old regulars got fed up with efnet and #linuxnewbie and made their own irc room which is often just idlers at #Linuxsphere on irc.openprojects.net. You can still see vvx or Mikev occassionally on the #lno channel.
