I have a problem. The drivers for my video card need XFree86 >4.0 and 3.3.6 is with Debian 2.2 which I have. However when I try to update with dselect using apt accessing ftp.debian.org. All packages I would call obsolete are marked as up to date and things like debconf which are at version 1.0 something is listed as 0.2 no upgrade is seen anywhere.

So how do I get it to upgrade?

apt-get upgrade and apt-get dist-upgrade does nothing.

Have you edited you /etc/apt/sources.list to change stable to whatever you want to upgrade to? Probably testing/woody. That is, if you want to upgrade everything with apt-get dist-upgrade.
