I use a local ISP here in New York, and had trouble connecting at first..then they told me "users are connected dynamically, both in Windows and Linux". Fine. I got a connection going in Linux, but when I tried to go to an address in Netscape, Netscape told me "cannot find the server(Perhaps there is something wrong with your nameserver?..You need to set the $SOCKS_NS variable..)"--and so on.
This was tried on Caldera eDesktop 2.4...it worked at first; on a later install, nothing, tho the two were the same..no hardware was changed, etc...The "Details" indication on the KPPP lights on the taskbar showed a connection!!..but:Can't dial out.
 I know for a fact this ISP uses
'distributed' address or so..but no problem logging in on Linux, but surfing? nope. Any help would be appreciated.
:D ISP's that are smart enough to provide DNS numbers :D :D

Do you have the isp's dns servers setup in /etc/resolv.conf?

With eDesktop 2.4, you can use COAS to configure the dns addresses.
