So far I've got one box running RH 6.2 (actually KRUD 2000-10-2), one running Debian 2.2r2, and I have another that I'd like to upgrade to something else for ****s and giggles. Slack is out, as I don't have that much spare time right now. My experiences w/ RH 7.0 in the form of the 11/03 and 12/01 releases of KRUD have been very troubling. So for now the field of candidates consists of SuSE 7.0 and Mandrake 7.2. A relative got me an early christmas present in the form of a boxed WalMart version of Mandrake 7.2, and a friend has SuSE 7.0 and is letting test drive the CD's (FWIW, I've used SuSE quite a bit in the past). Both distros have their strong and weak points, but I'm kinda leaning towards the Mandrake distro with a few reservations:

The boxed set doesn't have near the configuration options that I'm used to w/ Mandrake. No server software at all, really, even on 4 CD's. Does the download version, in addition to having up-to-date KDE 2.0, have the 'full' version of the installer and server packages? Or is it as watered down as the boxed sets? i.e. I've noticed a lot of people w/ boxed sets complaining on alt.os.linux.mandrake about problems w/ sound/video/printer config, and very few w/ the d/l'd cd's. Do the d/l cd's 'fix' most of the major problems w/ 7.2, or is it still messed up? SuSE is getting closer... http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif
