Anyone else have any luck with it?
Any new free ISPs that support linux?

Where do you live? Check http://www.lights.com/freenet/ for a local freenet.
Also, why not just pay for access? $15 a month aint gonna kill ya..

This is not for me, but for a friend in the Chicago area. I need to have it set up before Thanksgiving, otherwise I'll have to put 98 on the laptop I'm giving him.
I already pay $90 for a business DSL line.

If you look around your area, you could probably find several ISPs that offer everything a free one could offer, plus better support and longer uptimes (and less ads http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif ). Local ISPs are generaly cheaper than the national brands (I have one for $9.99 a month)

sign up for a netzero account, using windows client and follow the instructions here
http://rasspy.gq.nu/
get the info from winipcfg
did it used it for about 4 months, then i moved back home to my DSL http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
the username ends up being something like
0:1:8:username@netzero.com and my password was something like }{Df0{2#[
i dont think a password cracker would get that brute force :\
