I'm need some help on how to do this. I have a 100gig HD with windows mounted at /win. I want to delete windows and convert it to ext2 and then mount it as /files and allow on root to write to it. How do I go about doing this?

Do you have a really embarassing distro since you don't mention it?

If you are using Mandrake 8.x, just start up DiskDrake and go crazy on that Win partition. Delete it there, and reformat to a filesystem of your choice. It will even set up the mount point for you.

Cheers :)

fdisk for every distribution. Delete partition, set type to ext2, and format.
