Schools getting ready to start again and I was wondering what classes to take! I was looking into cisco for my first choice but that class seems to be drop and intro to unix OS as a second choice. The class is web based which I'm sure I don't like. The classes are for the community college here.

What do ya think?

I think that if you are going into medicine that these classes are a bad choice :D

Really though, I may have missed it somewhere, but what kind of major are you looking at?

Sorry, I'm 41 yrs. Not really looking at a degree. I have been an GM master tech for 10 yrs and have been a GM tech for 22 yrs. My true love is computers(15yrs). I hate what this business is. I can fix any GM with any electrical or fuel system without even have to think about it!

What I want to do is networking... I love it! I want OUT of what I'm doing. I went to work for DELL for a while as a hardware tech. That job sucked because I had to deal with techs that didn't even know how to format a hard drive. I'm not kidding! What I want to do is either sys admin or Cisco.

Maybe somebody can give you personal advice but I would suggest talking to the head of the IS or Computer department at the college. They may be able to help you make a good decision. Also, if you don't think you will like web based classes you won't. It takes a special kind of student to do well in one of these.

Just my $.02

My high school started offering the Cisco curriculum this year, and since I hardly ever turn down a free class that lets me fiddle with computers, I jumped on it...and I've loved it...the fact that it is web based allowed me to go ahead a lot at home, and also figure out a lot of stuff on my own (which I found helpful, because my teacher was not, shall we say, a genius)...I enjoy the class, found it to be a little challenging, but if you actually think about things and apply yourself, you shouldn't have any problems...especially since you've been loving this stuff for almost as long as I've been alive...if you want networking, I'd try the cisco, unless the web based thing is that much of a turn off to you...I just find it easy to learn in any format...also, I think you can get the curriculum in hard copy if you think that would help at all...
