How do I tell what version of Xfree86 got installed with MNO 7.2 ?
(MNO is the abbrev. for Mandrake isn't it?)

I think MDK 7.2 ships with X4.something - why not query your rpm database to see whats installed?
rpm -qa | grep X
This querys all the packages, and shows you the ones with a capital X in them.

As for Mandrake 7.1, X4 could be installed only in the expert installation, not the other two.

I am runnin' Mandrake 7.1 ... it's XFree86 v. 4.0.1 ... I don't know if that's the same in MDK 7.2 though...
Just open a terminal, su to root, and type "kpackage &" (without the quotes of course) ... then search for the XF86 RPM package ...
