And I wonder if someone can corroborate it:

Or redirect me to somewhere where it's at?
Thanx!

um, FTP servers usually have a file named MD5SUMS that list all the MD5 sums of all the files in the directory, especially for things like ISOs

I know. And I *DID* look around in the dirs, but no go.

ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distributions/slackware/slackware-8.0/isos/

It was a pain finding a mirror with Slack 8.0 as it is, so...

I did find an md5 filelist in another dir here (ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distributions/slackware/slackware-8.0/contrib/CHECKSUMS.md5) but it doesn't have the one for the iso images.

Please!? Anyone!?
:mad:The frigging kernel on the CD gives me a CRC error on boot, so I'm not too sure about the rest of the data either. :(

Can someone please post an md5sum for the install iso?

TIA

BUMP!

I've downloaded the iso THREE TIMES from TWO different mirrors!
I get THE SAME md5sum every time.
I've burned it TWICE on different type CD-Rswith the command
cdrecord -v speed=2 dev=0,0,0 install.iso
And every time I get a crc error and system halt when booting the CD-R!?

Help... :(
Must be something stupidly simple (or simply stupid) I'm doing wrong!?

Yeah, the ISO I d/l has the identical md5:

363b762630bc95a1b5d8e330585679f0

I am just about to burn it now, I'll let you know if it fails...

Like you said, it was bad enough finding an open mirror, seems like everyone and their mother is d/l slack. All the mirrors I was able to connect to were too slow for my taste until I used the psu.edu site; none of them had an MD5 posted.

Has anyone checked the Slackware forum?

mount the iso image in linux first, I've been told that you can't mount a corrupt iso

You can if the superblock isn't corrupted (which is only a small part of the ISO), but you'll get some funky looking files and/or permissions if it is corrupted.

I've mounted it and the files I've seen look fine, but that won't help me.

Besides: what are the odds of downloading an image 3 times and havin the same md5sum every friggin' time?
AND having the fscker boot bad twice on the SAME spot?

Well, I'm sorry to say I'm posting this from my fresh Slackware 8.0 install, using the ISO that produced the identical MD5 as yours.

I grabbed the install ISO from carroll.cac.psu.edu, produced the MD5 posted above, burned it at 12X with a Plextor IDE drive and it burned and installed without a hitch.

Good luck to you!

Did you also use a different command than the above (except for the speed=12) ????

Did you do anything else beforehand? Or just wrote the iso plain and simple like above?

Exactly right, I used the command:

cdrecord -v speed=12 dev=0,0,0 install.iso

 Ahhh HEELLL!!!
I broke down and just used the "boot/root-disks" approach.

I'll try the CDRs on friends' comps see if they fsck up too!
