help with uh... modem (maybe)

I have redhat 7.0 on a laptop. Just gota new pcmcia modem (usrobotics 3CCm156) because it is said to work with Linux. When i set up Kppp, all seems to be fine. I click connect, and it goes through its thing, and says it is connected. However, when i try to use netscape to go to any sites, it says it is unable to find the site. I don't know what to do.

Is kppp setup to automatically pickup the DNS servers? If it is not you want to do that and that should fix your website not finding problem.

Or you can manually type in your DNS servers and that should probably fix the problem.

yes, seems to connect and get dns numbers ok. It says something about maybe needing to change the $socks variable. I am using MSN for my ISP. wondering if this could be the problem.

Can you ping anything? Try this (in a prompt):


ping 63.236.73.208


And see if you get a response back.
