How have you configured it? Can you ping the linux box from elsewhere on the network? Can you open a Start-Run-\\IP-Addr from windows? PW StanLin 11-26-2000, 10:17 AM It is only yesterday that I networked my Windows workstations to my Red Hat Linux server, after several weeks of studying up and fiddling. So I can't be sure that I have told you everything but here goes. You need to install Samba 2.0.7 as earlier versions give browsing problems in the Network Neighborhood icon. If you installed Red Hat 7.0, you would have it. You need to run ntsysv to configure Samba to start automatically after booting. I also changed the encrypt password in the smb.conf file to active: encrypt password = yes In Red Hat the smb.conf file is located in the /etc/samba directory. By doing the above, hopefully you will see the Linux computer in your Network Neighborhood.
