i'm planning learning php and asp and i wanted to know what database program(s) linux should already have (if any), how i can access/use them, and/or if anyone recommends something better that i can install.

MySQL www.mysql.com (http://www.mysql.com)

Note: you might want to recompile php with support for it.

There are others like PostgreSQL, mSQL, Oracle, Sybase and a few others. The most popular right now seems to be MySQL with PostgreSQL coming in a close second.
