I am VERY new to linux and I know nothing about it but I hope someone can help me out. I have downloaded Mandrake 7.2 Several times and from several FTP addresses and I have sucessfully made my ISO CD's. Now when I reboot my system it trys to install and it looks like it is going to work but it gets to a screen that eventually says Initalizing CDROM. then I get an error that says "Mount Failed: Invalid Argument." Then I click OK. And then it says "Error Mounting Ramdisk. This should not happen, and I am rebooting your system now." Then I click ok and I have to reboot my system. Can someone please try to help me or tell me if there is a patch that I need to download. Thanks

hello,
did you pass anything to lilo at boot up? Also, is your CDROM an IDE or SCSI, if IDE is it on the mainboard ide connector?

If you are that new to Linux, you may want to pick up a book. I'd recommend O'reilly's Running Linux. You can get it here: http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/runux3/ .

I seem to remember reading that lots of mirrors had corrupt copies. That exact problem happened to me with a copy I downloaded, I can't remember where I got my good copy from though.

I had a good copy from twoguys.org ??? or .com I cant remember.Try that site.Hint....if you also d/l rawrite.exe and hd.img found in the non iso folders under /dosutils and /images you can burn the hd.img to a floppy in windows and it will allow you to install Mandrake from the iso.that way you will know if it works before you burn a cd.Just remember to write down the full name and path of the image as it will prompt you for it.
