A good controller card

what is a good controller card that enables raid support for IDE drives? i need something in a reasonable price range.

arstechnica.com mentions Promise controller cards (well, a built in one on a really sweet motherboard) in their hot rod box. i put a promise card (not a raid card, but just a faster access card than on board ide) on my dad's computer, and had no problems with it.
