I just installed Linux Mandrake 7.2 on a new partition of my HD. My primary partition has Win ME.
How do I set up a cable connection in Linux. (The connection wizard doesn't help) (i'm w/ Rogers@home)
I can't boot into Mandrake unless I use a boot disk. I have BootMagic 6.0 and that works for booting Windows but not Linux. I didn't install GRUB or LILO.
Please help me. I want to be able to access the web and have a dual boot without having to use a floppy disk.

Are you with Rogers in Ontario? Greater Toronto metro area, perhaps?
It's all pretty basic, as long as yur NIC is supported and properly configured.
After that, just do netconf and enable dhcp. Been a long day; I'll only be up for another 30 minutes. any other questions will have to be answered tomorrow night. Hey! I need 4 hrs sleep.

Bakala--
Quite new at this myself, but just got the cable up and running on Mandrake myself.
First of all, do you have a static IP address or a dynamically assigned (DHCP) IP address? If you have a static one, you can find it out by running the program "winipcfg" in Windows (from the "Run..." part of the Start Menu).
If you have DHCP, which is what my cable service is, then make sure that Mandrake has all of the packages that start with "DHCP" installed. During installation, I've found that you often have to do this manually, but as long as you're up and running, you can do it from the KDE Package mangager.
With either all the DHCP packages installed or the IP address, run DrakConf from KDE and select the networking option. It should detect your NIC. Then either supply the IP address if you're static or check the DHCP box and go. Run something that accesses the internet.
You might have to reboot, but that worked for me. From install it's a little easier, but in 7.1 at least you'd get all kinds of errors if you were trying to use DHCP and didn't manually check the boxes to install the relevant packages. <sigh>
Hope it helps.

NIC = Network Interface Card.
Do you connect your Cable Modem to your computer via Network Cable or USB Cable?
