I am trying to install open linux 2.3 after giving up on trying to get mandrake to install
I have a Ausu P5A MB a new maxtor ATA 100 7200 rpm hard drive with a ATA 100 card
I use Partition Magic to make a Linux Partition it seem to work ok but linux won't install on the partition
I open the file "partinfo" in partition magic it tell me That I have
error #107 Partition begins after end of disk
error #109 Partition end after end of disk
error #110 Number of sector is incnsistent
error #114 starting sector is incnsistent
Should I use fdisk to make a new dos then use partition magic to make it a linux partition would this work ? or do I need to fdisk all the hard drive and reinstall window then make a new linux partition ? thanks

I'm ot sure if you have a partition problem, or if the problem is that you are trying to install on a ATA100 setup.

I am probably wrong now, but AFAIK Mandrake 7.? is the only distro capable of installing on a ATA66 system "off the iso".

Anyway, if it is not a ATA issue, then just make some unpartitioned space and then make it a linux partition during install.

how big is that hd?
what version of partition magic?
i think older versions can't handle large(r) hard drives, but i could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/frown.gif
