OK, I'm probably gonna get my head ripped off on a Linux forum for even mentioning the W-word but hey, I had to! Ok, I want to dual-boot Win2K (for game support and some programs that aren't ported to linux) and Mandrake 8.0. Anyone know how well that works? I've dualbooted Win98 and Mandrake 7.0, and never had a problem, but I've heard bad experiences trying to dual boot because of the boot manager from win2k.
you wont have any problem at all - just boot to cd with disk 1 of the mandrake set and all will fall into place - Mandrake is the easiest to install - if you do get in a bind - i am sure we can help you out here

it will work perfectly fine as long as your Windows partition is not NTFS if it is NTFS you will have problems with the bootloader but that can be worked around also but it a little more complex.

I've got 4 dual boot mandrake8/win2k boxes where win2k is using ntfs and I've never encountered any problems or extra work to set it up.

Really? That's good. They didn't used to have support for it in 7.2 when I used it with Win2k and I thought I heard the same for 8 but guess not. that's good cause setting it up to work with the Win2k bootloader was a pain!
Sorry my bad :)

The bootloader was a bit of a problem for me trying to get RedHat 7.1 (i was doing mandrake and it wouldnt work) and Win2k to work, but that was because I didnt know wtf I was doing and the GUI LILO interface on KDE isnt worth ****, but i got it

I triple boot Win2k (on NTFS), FreeBSD and Mandrake 8.0 with no problems. Just install Linux last and let LILO write to the MBR. Or install FreeBSD. Boot Easy is sweet.
