I recently got my friend into Linux and he has Redhat 7.1. He hasn't got the internet to work yet and he needed some drivers, so he downloaded them in windows 98 and tried to install them in Linux. it gave an error that said the file did not appear to be of the RPM type. i wanted to know if there is a way to get around this

did you try copying the file onto your linux system? i have done this before and it has worked.

If the rpm files were ftp'd to the Linux box, maybe they were transferred as ascii instead of binary.
