Hi,
I'm having trouble setting up pppd on redhat 6.1
I've created the configuration files:
I edited/created all these files:
1) /etc/resolv.conf
2) /etc/ppp/options
3) /etc/ppp/pap-secrets
4) /usr/sbin/ppp-on
5) /usr/sbin/ppp-off
When I had written all the files, and the ppp-off script, I typed:
# cd /usr/sbin
# chmod a=rwx ppp-on
To set correct file permissions for other users.
Then I logged in with another console, and I type:
# tail -f /var/log/messages
To constantly display whats going on.
Then in the first console I type:
# ppp-on
I change to the other console, and after a second, it displays this:
modprobe: can't locate module char-major-108
pppd[633]: pppd 2.3.10 started by root, uid 0
chat[634]: send (0845-blah-blah^M)
chat[634]: expect (CONNECT)
chat[634]: alarm
chat[634]: failed
pppd[633]: Connection script failed
pppd[633]: Exit.
:(
can anyone help??
