i always asked myself how/where i can change the message that appears, when i successfully logged in?!

on my old debian box, this was "bla... comes with no warranty ...bla", on my slackware box this is the date and the "you got|got no new mail".
how/where can i change this (currently using slackware 7.1, kernel 2.4.0 -> YES, i did it and it works http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif)

hmm..
one question:
does linux set back /etc/issue and /etc/motd after each reboot??

i just made up some information to see when login (slackware 7.1, kernel: bla.. etc) and now it's the same message as usual..

hmm..

Yes, my RH box does that. I think the code is in /etc/rc.local or something? That's where I had to make the changes to make my custom /etc/issue.
