Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Found a great linux tool
http://www.webmin.com
This little tool fixed almost all the problems I was having with Samba, Sendmail, and MySQL. I think it might be installed by default with Mandrake 7.2, but I am not sure. If you have Apache running, open up a browser and click this link to see if you got it:
https://localhost.localdomain:10000
It allows you to configure most everything on your Linux box from any browser. The frontend makes configuring stuff MUCH easier, since you just fill out the page and it uses perl scripts to create the configuration file for that service. It will even let you view processes, start and stop services, and reboot your machine.
It comes with Caldera also, and it's a very handy tool to have.

Been using it for awhile now. Great tool and you can add other modules when they come available. ie CD Backup Module.
I also use Caldera which I believe owns Webmin now.

Whoa, they named one of their machines (in one of the screenshots) smegma. Ewww... that's really disgusting.
Sorry but I'm not familiar with the password limitation. I've used it for modifying startup and shutdown operation and managing filesystems. It's a very handy tool.
To find out all you need to know about Webmin (I've been using it for about 6 months now on all 3 boxes I have) go to:
http://www.webmin.com/webmin/
This wonderful program is still "owned" by it's author, Jamie Cameron, who participates alot in the maillist setup for webmin users. I suggest you sign up for the list, and ask any questions there (only concerning webmin, not how to configure the programs it helps you configure).
Webmin merely makes cofiguring your entire linux machine much easier by using a GUI environment. You still need to know how to configure the individual programs themselves.
Hope this helps!

Yeah, webmin is a very handy app. I've been using it for a while and I find it very useful for doing remote administration.

Ive installed webmin but cant get to it through localhost.localdomain.
download/rpm/webmin-0.83.rpm (RPM suitable for Redhat, Caldera or SuSE Linux, 3088 Kb)
This what i installed on redhat 6.2 network server. Any help? Sugesstions?
<EDIT> It installed just fine. Like a exe file in windope.
<nother EDIT> Oh hey, could this be the result of pmfirewall being installed?
<nother EDIT> Yes i tried to invoke webmin to start and got a port error. YIKS,
"Failed to bind port 10000: adrress already in use at /usr/libexec/webmin/miniserv.pl line 247"
BIG BIG and LAST EDIT........................
