I have a new slackware 7.0 install running as a server, the hardware is a k6-2 400mhz, 64mb ram, 10gb Seagate SCSI drive connected to an Adaptec controller (don't know the model, 29xx?), 1.7gb and 200mb IDE drives, and a ne2000 10mb ISA network card.

the root partition is the second partition partition on the 1.7gb IDE drive. (/dev/hda2)
/boot is hda1, and /usr is sda2, while swap is sda1.

On the server, I am running DNETC, Apache 1.3.14, MySQL 3.22.32, PHP 4.0.1, with pop3 and ftp services.

I just reinstalled linux on this system a little over a month ago. I have not changed anything in the system whatsoever, since installation. Before the install I was running slackware 7, but had some strange LILO problems I couldn't fix, so I reinstalled with a new partioning scheme.

Suddenly the server seems to randomly reboot itself at random intervals. This has been happening for the past two weeks. Reading the logs, no errors are recorded whatsoever. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing these reboots?

the problem sound kind of vague.

does it '/sbin/reboot'? or is it a power interruption? did you check the connection to the mains?

in the first case you could just rename the file, and see if any programs spawn error messages.

hope this helps. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif

Sorry its so vague, I really don't know what is going on. Im not sure that its running /sbin/reboot as I am usually not around until one of the people who upload webpages to the server comes to me and complains. The previous slackware install worked fine and never crashed/rebooted, except that I couldn't reinstall lilo to the MBR.

At the time I came up with my nick, I didn't know it meant boring in dutch. But in the seven years I've been using it, many people have reminded me http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif. I originally use Jaai, but switched to saai because it sounded better. I don't know how I came up with either of those names in the first place.
