Hey,

So, out of curiosity, I want to try out Suse 7.2. However, after having my cable modem download the distro overnight, I checked my ftp client to discover that there was still 4Gb left to go!

This is really odd, and I don't trust that this estimation is correct. However, it doesn't seem like all my downloading made much of a dent in all that's there on the server (and I checked to make sure I was just taking from the 7.2 folder)...and I downloaded 2.1 Gb already.

So, two questions: how big is the download for Suse? I'd love to hear from someone who's done this recently.

Cheers.

Can't say for certain, but I have heard that it is 6gb

Jeez...

It's one thing that they don't post ISO's...I can understand the reasoning there from a company point of view. But, to only offer something in the neighbourhood of 6gb is nuts. To make things worse, they don't even say how big the freebie download is.

I mean, how grateful do they expect me to be just to try out the freaking thing?

I felt the same way. They do have a Live-Eval iso but I have heard that it is not even worth the download. I personally haven't tried it though. I think they expect people to use this and like it enough to buy the full version

Yeah, today I decided: screw SuSe. It's not going to change my life anyways (unless of course it was delivered to me by Natasia Kinski).

New project: Progeny Debian (and I promise not to become a Debian knob).
