Well, according to /., woody or Debian3.0 is going into freezing, so we might see it in a month or so. With the recent release of Slack8.0, the flame wars are probably going to start up, sigh.
IMO, both Slack and Deb serve slightly different purposes. Debian would be pretty useless on my old laptop as I wouldn't have enough space to use apt-get properly. Slack is fine on a small HD, but I want to try Debian on my desktop, where I can experience apt-get in all it's goodness. So as far as I'm concerned:
