Installing Sound Driver for Vortex 1 Card (8820)

I've downloaded the file and expanded it. As root, I typed make install20. It proceeded to install the driver until I received an error message. It said 'cc command not found'. What software package do I install to get this command? I'm running Linux-Mandrake8.0

You need the C compiler. Package is probably called gcc. You might need various -devel packages. Usually any errors you get should give a clue as to what package you need.
