For quite a long time, I had been running Mandrake 7.2 on my laptop (IBM Thinkpad 760e) and everything worked fine. Just yesterday, I started upgrading to 8.0. During the install, I realized that I couldn't move the cursor with my mouse. Despite that, I continued with the upgrade using only the keyboard. When it finished & booted into Linux, the cursor still wouldn't move. I tried reinstalling it, but I had the same problem. By the way, I'm using that little red eraser sort of thing in the middle of the keyboard for my mouse. Any help would be appreciated.

try an xf86config - i had the same problem when i first installed slackware 7.1 and that fixed it.

When you say 'upgrade', do you mean that you selected the Upgrade option when installing, or did you do a fresh install (reformatting partitions)?

The reason I ask is that not many people have made a 100% successful upgrade of Mandrake 7.x to 8.0 without doing a clean install.

Cheers :)

I meant I chose upgrade. But I also said, maybe not clearly enough, that I tried a full install afterwards. I'll try the xf86config & see if that works.

I just tried xf86config & that didn't work. The mouse works fine in Windows, so I know it's something with Mandrake. Any other suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem. My mouse doesnt work when Mandrake 8 (KDE) is running. Works fine when I boot into WinMe. I installed the Generic PS2/Wheelmouse driver during install (clean including partion format). Mandrake seemed to see the mouse fine, I could see the white test box light for both left and right mouse buttons and the whell movement indicator worked also. Once Mandrake boots it wont work though.
