I have just spent 2 hours reading the debian-guide that was on the cd, but there is no mention of apt-get, there is something on dpkg and deselect.

So how do i use apt-get?. or deb. i downloaded "he who must not be mentioned" Monster source.list, but dont know what to do with it, Do i just copy it to /etc/apt or do i have to put it into the source.list already there.
Cheers

you use apt-setup to add sources to your /etc/source.list
apt-get install package_name to install
apt-get remove package to uninstall
apt-get to see a list of options

I've never used apt-setup. You can edit your /etc/apt/sources.list with any text editor.

Gee thanks crazyox2, i think that DOES just about cover it.

Now how about giving me a hand to get some sound in Libranet, I have had to put Drake8.0 back on because the silence was deafining.

At the moment, i can boot Drake - Libranet - BeOS - and Windows

I really like Libranet, so once the sound problem is fixed I'll zap Mandrake.

What kind of soundcard do you have?

C-Media Electronics - CMI8338 - pci sound card.

when i installed Libranet, It used the alsa sound module, and asked if i wanted to configure my soundcard now, I said yes, and it gave me a list of cards to choose from, the only one pertaining to mine was called cmi8330_chipsets, but i think (not sure) that this is an isa pnp card. and as such when i entered my sound card details, it didn't work.

In windows my soundcard setup is :
irq 5 and 10
dma 1 and 5
I/O F700 - F7FF
The card works perfectly in Drake and windows and even BeOS, but not in Libranet
