WINMODEM UNDER MANDRAKE 7.2

Very few winmodems (read: one out of a gazillion) are supported by most versions of Linux. I recommened going out and getting a US Robotics modem instead, those are known to work very well with Linux.

Check http://www.linmodems.org before buying anything.

I don't know your modem, but I've heard that some 56k6 pci winmodems with a Lucent chipset MIGHT work, the Rockwell chipset ones however don't.
However, any external modem works, si if you buy another modem, that might be a good idea.
