I installed Mandrake 8.0 on my primary slave on my WIN98SE system. Installed like a charm on my Epox 8KTA3 motherboard (Athlon/Duron board based on the VIA KT133A chipset). Linux set up a dual-boot situation which I didn't exactly want as I'm a Windows user with some very important Windows apps which help me to put bacon on the table.
After some BBS replies I think the appropriate way to restore Windows non-dual-boot system is to use the command SYS C:. Some people recommended I use FDISK /MBR but after reading an MS article at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q69/0/13.ASP I don't think that's the answer. It stated that this command could screw up some dual-boot programs.
I'm going to make a Linux boot floppy, do the SYS command, and then use the boot floppy whenever I feel like trying to learn/play with Linux. Basically, I need to figure out a way to get into Linux only if I really want to (i.e. boot floppy). If I lose the floppy I can always reinstall Linux - being a Grand Newbie it's not like I'll be losing anything. :D Anyone have any comments on my plan?
