Yo! Moving here with a few question's for u well informed people http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

well its been about 2 weeks or so sence i installed slackware 7.1 i love linux so much

last night i compiled my first kernel...
I was just laughing so damn hard at how straight forward configureing it was.

one single session in Cl and i was able to unpack config compile and install in a matter 0f 5 min's max sweet mmmmmm linux http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
so here i am chillin on a sweet linux box
duel intel p3 coppermine 800mhz
smp support my hardware is built right into the kernel . just tits man

so here looking at my huge
1600x1200 32 bit 21" .20 pitch screen and find that...i really dont like kde

so I would Like To (from CL) completly remove kde and THEN install Blackbox

can some one give me the command for unistalling apps

and oh yea what is the best general location to install apps my /usr partition? or my /home partition? as a good general pratice for everyday use http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

and scripts what about em

for example ohhh i dono i want to have:
dhcpcd -h <hostname> done at start up where would i do that
and how about where i would put:
mount -t vfat /dev/hdx /mnt(x being your fat partition)to have it done at start up

That About Does It For Now http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Thanx In Advance.

in slack if you installed kde as a package simple doing "removepkg kde" or going into pkgtool and removing it from there. to get bb installed just download the package from www.slackware.com/packages (http://www.slackware.com/packages) and install it, unless you install it from source then a simple configure make make install will do just fine.
for the dhcp config you could just add the line to either /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 or rc.inet2 or rc.local or even make a new rc file called rc.dhcp and then tell rc.local to execute rc.dhcp.
lastly the dos mount just add the line to fstab and it will be mounted at boot time look at the format of /etc/fstab it should be easy to figure out the format the new entry has to be in.

and finally you are a bastard for having such a sweet system :P

You might want to let KDE remain on your Hdrive so you can run some KDE apps in Blackbox, Icewm, or whatever WM you choose to run. What the heck, you've got the space.. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
