I had redhat 7 installed with a dual boot with win98. everything was fine except for wondows crashing all the time (more than usuall) but thats another question. Before installing linux tried win2000 and decided to go with linux well when i choose to boot in dos (win) from lilo it has win2000 setup or win98 i choose 98. so i did a fdis/mbr and that wiped out lilo. can anyone tell me how to get it bac.

Do you have a rescue disk? I don't know exactly, but the bootdisk(in the pakage) should work for booting. If you don't own a retail version there is an image with the file you downloaded.

Login to Linux, su to root, run /sbin/lilo, reboot.

I have a bootdisk and can boot into linux just fine, and when i type /etc/lilo i get "Fatal: SINGLE-KEYSTROKE requires the label or the alias to be only a single error.
So i went into lilo.conf and changed my names to one character names, but no luck there? I even tried booting off the cd and choosing upgrade packages picking like 2 of them and when it asks to put lilo do it, but that didnt work either.?? im still searchiong the web hopefully some one can tell me before i find it next week.

run /sbin/lilo, reboot

As suggested already, /sbin/lilo as root and not /etc/lilo. /etc contains the configuration file for lilo 'lilo.conf'.
