Pretty sluggish if you run KDE2. Use XFCE3 or Blackbox and you will be fine.

Blackbox is better than Gnome. Heck, almost everything is better than Gnome/KDE.

I have a Pentium 133 with 16 megs of RAM.

Use Blackbox. Read the HD speed tweak NHF.

It runs fast enough for most apps, except giants like StarOffice.

It will run fine.

I got a 233MHz and 64MB of RAM and it runs fine...faster than windows

and yes blackbox rules http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
then again, with 32MB you'd be better off not using X at all http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

With 32MB you can run X! Very well, too! Just don't use any of the bloatware (ie. KDE or Gnome). Blackbox will run very well in that, but if you want even more performance, use PWM. It's /very/ fast and uses almost no memory at all and it's actually useable, unlike some of the other "super minimalist" WMs. I've actually used it on my p3-700 just because of the functionality. The docking thing is extremely useful, more WMs should have that!

KDE2 in MDK7.2 gobbles up lots of memory.
Like 80MB worth of memory, then throw in another 8MB for the rest of X, and if you use Nutscrape, 20MB more. Even with my 192MB RAM PIII800 box, it is like running Winblows 98 on a 486 with 32MB RAM.
If you don't believe me about how much RAM KDE2 takes up, run gtop, and look at the memory allocations.
