I have an internet link on my windoz machine which is via satelite. It uses a modem for outgoing data and for negotiating the connection. A satelite link is used for the incoming data.
The company is very helpful (Not!) and says "we don't support linux". - *** holes!!
I know it must be possible but can't seem to find any howtos. Can anyone point me towards any documentation?

Try a Google search for 'Satelite'.
Nothing at www.linuxdoc.org (http://www.linuxdoc.org) ?

Dump that piece a crap...
go http://www.starband.com
up/down via satalite...plus tv too for a discounted price...
Equipment plus install will run about 400-600 bucks...they won't let you do the uplink install yerself (yet)
Go with the external modem...remove the cover from the CAT5 jack...use a crossover to yer NIC...a little tweaking and yer good to go...
BTW...that also destroys yer warrenty...and they do not support Linux either...but there is a Linux thread on the message board of thier site......

Damn! Starband looks much better than my options. Unfortunately I live in Australia.
I have searched all over the internet for help on this. I have also emailed the service providers. Here is a copy of the response I get from them:

"Unfortunately we do not support Linux as you pointed out and we are not
aware of any information for having the system operate with Linux. All I
could suggest is to do a search on the Internet. Sorry we can't assist more
at this time."
That is pretty useful isn't it.
Does anyone have any suggestions of further places to look for documentation on this?

As I always say. I'm sure if someone knew the answer, they would help. I would...
Nothing at Google? Freshmeat.org?

Thanks guys. I appreciate the replies - even if don't know.
I have searched everywhere I can think without success. I just don't know enough programming to write something myself for this sort of thing.
Oh well. sigh. :(
