I log onto my ISP via minicom, and insert the name and password as required, which had been previously done with WIN98. I get a failure of name and password message . I called ATT , one person says they support Linux, the next they don't. Does anybody know, and can they direct me to a supporting ISP?

I used to use ATT from linux all the time before I got a cable modem ( :) :p :D ).
It should work for ya. As far as someone from ATT telling you they do or don't support linux, well, I'm sure those people probably have absolutly no idea what they were talking about, unless you suppose the person who told you they support linux meant to say "yes, it should work from linux", and the person who told you they don't support linux, meant to say "no, they don't provide technical support for linux".
When I used ATT, it was just as simple as dialing up and providing the user and pass.
