I use the HD tweak from fancypiper:
/sbin/hdparm -c 1 -d 1 -k 1 /dev/hda

When I do a /sbin/hdparm -t /dev/hda I get all kind of errors about the cyclic redundancy check.

My question is two fold:
1)is this caused by my Motherboard or by some bad kernel code?
2)is there a program I can use to diagnose problems with my Motherboard?

Thanks
