PRINTER WON'T WORK IN X....

my printer works from the command line but applications like applix, staroffice and netscape just lock it up....hp deskjet400 running on red hat 6.1 thru kde, it seems gnome doesn't work either....any help would be kewl...

hello,
what command are yos uing to print from these applications. It should be lpr . This is not an X issue, I bet you can go to a command line in an xterm and print normally too.
