1. find the executable that you wanna link, and then right click on it and look for the following ... make alias ... I'm not too sure, if I were sitting in front of a BeBox right now I could tell ya.
2. Look on the ftp server for be, they have their compiler stuff under development.
3. There aren't really themes per-se, but hold down ctrl+alt and click the be menu, there should be a new option... you can change the title bars from be to mac or windows http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
4. http://www.bebits.com/
gave it a try, liked it, found out I only had 500 megs to work with, and that included auto-swap space (for me, about 160 megs or more) Be is very nice, and it's very pretty, I'd recomend it to anyone who's wary of linux, but wants to be free of M$' tyrany. Be careful though... as it has a very select ammount of hardware it can run on... so DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST. Also, it has very little developers writing applications for it.

Bethemes is on bebits and provide some themes.
Most important: you are NOT limited to the 500 MB virtual partition: just free some diskspace and use Beos installer to install on a real BFS (64 bits journaled) partition. No size limit and much faster. Very safe too. Type bootman at terminal to install a multi boot chooser, much more pretty than lilo!

The developement stuff was stripped out of Personal Edition to keep the size down (being that 40MB is already a huge download). The developement kit, all 20MB of it, can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.be.com/pub/beos/BeOS5-DevTools.zip . It includes all the libraies for x86, PPC, and posix. Plus an IDE, and sample code.
Have Fun!
