Hello, I am using Suse 7.0
however I am new to it and I cannot
figure out how to get Yast to (or any other method) to figure out how to assure the 3com
nic card is recognized. Earthlink dsl provided a modem, it works with my windows, but I really want to use this on the linux

THe person who was nice enough to provide this box to me to test with isn't really avail to help, which is ok, so I figured I'd ask

I try ifconfig but damnit, I get glibc errors stating it needs to be updated. Even doing ls-l gives errors. Nice. Do I have to do everything as root? Maybe I am just a picklebrain? I tried suse help files but before I weed through all these articles I want to learn step one. how do I determine I can even get a connection?

Thanks

Try ifconfig as root first to see if eth0 shows and has a ip address assigned to it.
