Hi everyone. I've recently came across one problem. I'm currently running windows 2000, and before installation i partitioned my hardrive and left on C: on 2Gb of space. Now i decided to install mandrake linux 7.2. After reading help file i found out that i have to install it on my primary partition(C: has only 30Mb remainimg, win 2000 took up all the space) and i still have 17Gb in total left on my secondary partition. So is there any way to install linux on the secodary partition or is there anyway that i can increase my primary partition without loosing any data? Thanks http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

I'm not sure, but I'd suggest partition magic for both problems. I installed Mandrake7.2 on the same machine as windows Me, and this is how I did it:
First, I released some space on the hard drive (so that there was enough space for linux), so that there was unpartitioned space after the last dos/windows partition. (With partition Magic, just drag the end of the last partition left, revealing gray area, and do not create a partition there). Then you can just let Mandrake take care of partitioning the empty space for itself.
Also for increasing the size of your current windows partition ( c: ), I'd suggest partition magic. Never tried resizing like that, but I think it will work. Just remember to run partition magic from dos, as all but the very latest versions support win2000. Or, you can use an other partitioning program. I just like partition magic, as it is so simple and easy to use. Hard to do mistakes.
Hope this helps,
