Instead of clever sayings in our sig files, why not just List our Hardware/Software configuration? That way, when someone asked a question, we'll have the specs?

After you, although I fail to see what this has to do with General Linux Questions.

Sounds good, but what about the people that have more than 1 pc/hw configure? Oops. That ain't gonna go. Good idea though.

I've been to other boards (mostly systems support boards) where they all do that... blech... You won't catch me doing it in the G-OT threads. Not that it doesn't have it's merits, though... It can just get to be a "Lookit what I got" kinda thing that those pretentious kinda bastards like...

<sorry, just my 2 wooden nickels...>

I've got a better idea: Since we don't live in Nazi Germany or Red China, let's not have a bbs taskforce to wipe out these "evils." There are going to be people who misclassify their threads, and the sooner we can all NOT be bitter about it, the better off we'll be.

That said, I think it'd be a waste of whitespace; I think it'd be much cooler if a registrant was asked for system info, and optionally provide a link to those specs in his sig automatically. But even still, you'd have problems like hardware profiles listing "modem" instead of the speed, manufacturer, and model number.

That would be a great idea except for guys like me who have 7 different computers.

one server.
one pc for me.
one pc for the kids.
one laptop for my wife.
one laptop for me.
one laptop for work.
one "other" pc.

What we need is some way to add info about our computers to our profiles. so if we need help someone can just look at your profile.
