Hey folks,

I'd like to know how to burn a Linux CD off, say, the Mandrake site. Whenever I've tried, I just got transferred to an FTP site with a whole bunch of different files. Do I download all the files or just one? After I get the files on my computer, what do I do? Do I just make a data CD and transfer them over?

you're doing this all in windows, or linux?

and we are talking about install disc images (.iso), right?

you usually only need one cd (the first install cd) to install a linux distro. the others are just extra programs generally. make sure you have the right image for your platform.

i'd recommend linuxiso.org. its the easiest place to get all your images. just click on the distro of your choice, download the file(s) (but like i said, you only need the first). then burn it to cd with your favorite burning software.

What do you know- I just downloaded Mandrake 8.0 last night, and installed it this morning. What a coincidence!

Ok- go to http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ftp.php3#iso and choose a server close to you. (you'll probably want to use Getright or Gozilla to manage the download if your on windows since its going to be pretty large, or another download manager if your on another OS).

Ok, once your in a server, you want to be in Mirrors/Linux/Mandrake/ISO

There are two CD images-
Mandrake80-ext.iso and
Mandrake80-int.iso

int is disc one of the installation, and has the essential files etc, while ext is disc 2, and has most of the additional features etc. I'd suggest you go ahead and download both of them if at all possible, its very useful :)
