I have Red Hat Linux 7.0 running as a second OS on a Win98 Machine. I have a S3 Savage3D video card and a LG-1731D monitor.
Runnig Xwindows I find that when I try to move a window around the screen it traces itself making the desktop unreadable. If I click right mouse button and refresh screen, everthing is visible again. Has this situation been encountered before? Is there a cure?

Could be your using an incorrect or generic Xserver for your video card.

Try changing the refresh rates in your configuration file /etc/XF86Config. Upgrading X may help to fix it.

Have you had a look around www.xfree86.org (http://www.xfree86.org) for support for the S3 Savage3D?

Anything at S3/Diamond related to Linux drivers?
