I'm trying to set up my supported sound card in Drake 8.1 (the comp is a laptop).
if I:
Run /sbin/sndconfig as root
and set to:
Choose the OPL3-SA2/3/x sound chip, I/O Port 0x530, IRQ 5, DMA1 - 1, DMA2 - 0, MPU I/O 0x330.
All the demo files work but this is the only place I get sound. sound works no where else but in the tests in sndconfig. ummm, HELP!

What errors do you get when trying to run sound in other programs? Do you have permissions to use /dev/dsp? Also try using the hardware config tool in DrakConf to set your sound up, but I would check on the first two things first.

Run 'mpg123 <a file>' and tell us the exact response you get.

well I did some fiddiling around and got it working, but now I've run into another problem. Music CDs have become an un-reconized and un-mountable format to linux. I've tried several CDs, both CDR and real music CDs. data/app/game CDs mount and work just fine. any clue???
