I installed Mandrake 7.1 yesterday so I am a rank beginner. I'm dual booting WinME/Linux and would like to be able to sign on via Linux with my external USB modem. It is hardware corrected, not a "winmodem". Specifically it's a Boca Tidalwave V.90. I could probably use a generic USB modem driver. I don't know how to set it up. I have been told I may have to compile kernel 2.4-test10 to get support for it, but nobody seems to know for sure. I don't want to confront compiling a kernel unless I have to.
Anybody have any concrete advice for me?
