Networking with a modem

Please could someone tell me how can I set up a network between two computers if the PC on the other side uses Windows 98 .I want to use my modem for this job.I use Red Hat Linux 7.1

Do you just want file and print sharing between the 2 pc's with a modem or do you want to setup a router (internet connection sharing)?

Use Samba for file and print sharing between Windows and Linux.

I just want file and print sharing between two computers .Actually this is more of an experiment than a problem .I had tried it with Windows previously between two computers both running Windows.I want to start getting familiar with some of Linux's networking capabilities.I'm reading a few docs but can't get hold of something really friendly.Can you recommend any?
