Hai,

I have just installed Mandrake 7.2 Power Pack Deluxe and am getting the following error while trying to boot up:

request_module[block-major-7]: root fs not mounted
VFS: Cannot open root device 07:07
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 07:07

I read somewhere that the problem could be to do with differences in SCSI and IDE drives..

Any help appreciated ;)

Seems as though the bootloader cannot find the root partition.

Do you have a linux rescue/boot disk you can use to access your system? You will need to verify that Grub (/boot/grub/menu.lst) or Lilo (/etc/lilo.conf) is pointing to the correct boot partition.
