Hey,

I've always installed from CD...but thanks to Mandrake's patented "1 outta 3 will work from CD" reliability, I'm now curious about installing from ftp. How would I do this?

with debian's potato 2.2 all ya have 2do is get the 5 disks (3 drivers + 1 rescue + 1 root), dd em on new floppy disks (bad-blocks free, that is) and sit back and relax.

Actually Im not 100% sure if you also have to d/l the 10-12 base disks, but using common sense (ftp --> speed things up, not time to write 12 fdisks!!), I think the 5 disks is all you need to get started. debian install is one of the best (slack's gets in second place)

There is a NHF on ftp install here (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/installation/ftpinstall.html). Although it is for Redhat, you should be able to use some if not all of it.
