HELP - Samba - Network Unavailable error

Two weeks into Mandrake 7.2 and a new problem hits me.

The new problem has to deal with the fact that the following problem appears on windows machines that try to access samba.

Server XDR not accesable
Network unavailable
...

I surely would appreciate some help.

I had a similar prob with any win9x client trying to get to my RedHat6.1 samba file server. The NT machines didn't have any prob. The error message was slightly different. My said "Network Busy" when I tried to connect to shared drives on the samba machine.

The solution was in the resolv.conf file (this may be diff for Mandrake). Basically I set the linux box to resolve to itself first (127.0.0.1) and therefor fail immediately.

I found reference to this problem at samba.org and here on linuxnewbie...
