Linux newbie is an understatement for me,have you the patience, I need help.
I am running 98 se,ME right now and want to load linux to my IDE drive.I have a TDK velo cd burner and I am using Nero to burn everything.I dl mandrake 7.2 and also slackware iso hoping to burn them to a cd for install.Even with searching and reading, I was unable to burn a bootable cd.
Suggestions for a known bootable iso to burn to a rom, along with a site or link with simple instructions or explanations on how to burn a bootable rom would be great.
Iv'e tasted linux only through windows emulation, and am now dying to load it on my machine as a dual boot OS. I am a little suprised on how much i want to get this going.Wouldn't be diving into an obsession would I ? No not me . Please help If You can.
Thanks!

did you try this?
http://www.ahead.de/en/cfaqs.htm#q01

if that didn't work then, maybe the .iso didn't download correctly?
have you used nero successfully for other stuff?
my wife's burner (off brand i forget) won't burn .iso's with nero at all, the burner just isn't compatible. i don't want to pay $100 for ez cd creator, i could get another burner for that price

Also, usually they provide tools to make an installation bootdisk on their CD or on the website. Try searching for those materials.

Does the CD work apart from being non-bootable? If so, the images directory on the cd contains instructions and images for you to create a boot floppy that you can use to start the installation. I've not managed to burn a bootable CD, but have successfully installed from non-bootable ones bu using a bootdisk.
